Military Tuition Benefits

As a service member or veteran, you may qualify for additional financial resources to help you fund your education at Marist. Some of the programs from which you might benefit are:

ÈâÈ⴫ý Military Discount

To Veterans, Active duty personnel, Reservists, and employees working on U.S. military bases, their spouse and their adult dependents (at least 22 years old at the time of acceptance) are eligible for a 25% tuition discount on certain undergraduate and graduate programs at Marist. Please contact the Office of Student Financial Services for details.

Montgomery GI Bill® (MGIB)

Marist is approved for all chapters of the .  Eligible students must complete the VA's  form. This form, along with the student's DD-214 if available and the Certificate of Eligibilty, must be submitted to the ÈâÈ⴫ý Registrar's Office.  Students must also complete and submit to the Registrar’s Office the Veteran Benefit Registration Form

Post-9/11 GI Bill®

Eligible students can use the  at Marist.  Students who are interested in using this benefit must first take the following two steps through the Department of Veteran Affairs: 

1. If you are eligible for the MGIB and if you qualify for the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, you must make an irrevocable election to receive benefits under the Post-9/11 GI Bill® through the VA's Application for Benefits form; and
2. You must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) showing the percentage of the benefit for which you are eligible.

To complete these steps, visit the . Once you have completed the Application for Benefits form and CoE, you must submit  your DD-214, if available, the Certificate of Eligibility and the completed Veteran Benefit Registration Form  to the Registrar's Office at Marist.  This process will allow the College to determine how much money, if any, will be the responsibility of the student.

Yellow Ribbon Program

Students who are 100% eligible under the Post-9/11 GI Bill® qualify for the Yellow Ribbon Program.  This program is designed to cover the difference between the amount the Department of Veteran Affairs will pay in tuition and the actual cost of tuition. 

Eligible students must formally apply to the Yellow Ribbon Program through the School Certifying Official in the Registrar’s Office.  Eligible students who wish to apply for the Yellow Ribbon Program may do so by completing the Veteran Benefit Registration Form   and submitting the completed form along with the Certificate of Eligibility to the Office of the Registrar. Eligible students are accepted into the program on a first-come-first-served basis.  The ÈâÈ⴫ý Yellow Ribbon Agreement with the VA limits the number of students accepted into the Yellow Ribbon Program to 50.  Also, per the Yellow Ribbon Agreement with the VA, ÈâÈ⴫ý will contribute up to $8000 in Yellow Ribbon per year and the VA will match the ÈâÈ⴫ý contribution. 

Military Tuition Assistance

Service members in an Active or Reserve status may qualify for Military Tuition Assistance (TA) through their command.  Interested students should begin this conversation with their military command.  If you have TA and wish to use it at Marist, please contact the Office of Student Financial Services.

New York State Veteran Tuition Award

New York State Veterans Tuition Awards (VTA) are awards for full-time study and part-time study for eligible veterans matriculated in an approved program at an undergraduate or graduate degree-granting institution or in an approved vocational training program in New York State (NYS).  Please see  for eligibility requirements and how to apply.

ROTC

Some students participating in ROTC are eligible for scholarships. Visit the ÈâÈ⴫ý ROTC website for more information.

Other Aid

The Office of Student Financial Services (SFS) is available to help students to identify resources to help pay for college.  Please note that the first step to working with SFS is to complete the .  Please allow at least one week for the data to be processed by the government and received by ÈâÈ⴫ý.  For more information, please visit the Office of Student Financial Services website.
